some pictures from the MidSummer Munroe which is on the calender still uncoloured in

this is the start everyone has to run up a long hill but Dr Rob who is the race organisor runs too,in his boater hat,and union jack shorts, so that makes it less scary that he is running too (and talking). But before the start, everyone has to sing 'God Save the Queen' because I think Dr Rob likes to have English experiences, and you get instructions to say well done and thanks to the marshals along the way and everyone does that, so it feels a bit like being inside a nice comforting running factory/

this is the musician who plays Scottish music along the way, which is quite nice and he had to walk all the way up the hill with his pipes. if it was more then 28 degrees a the start at 4pm, the race would have been delayed until it cooled down (like when i was in bording school, if it reached above 40 degrees then we had to go and lie down in the hostel)

this is the course elevation you can see that you run there and back, which is sort of how the running factory idea came about. its also like WillyWonkers chocolate factor and the umpahlumpah's. (or you can go to Gold Reef City near Joburg and Soweto and go down a gold mine to see how the miners worked and how many of them died (but its only a simulation, they would never dream of sending the public down a real mine)

and finally, this is where the race was, Box Hill, where apparently the Box Tree grows, which I might find a picture of and draw, i like the idea of a tree resembling a box, maybe thats how they invented coffins. also there is the sign to warn people about dangerous runners on the horizon. Mostly we didnt run in the road we ran on trails and up and down steps and over styles.
i ran in 2 hours 28 and I heard Dr Rob say that to run under 2 and a half hours is very respectable, so maybe that will help me to be respectable in life.

there were also a lot of south africans running in this race and they have very specific slang and expressions, which i spose might be like a word version of the impact of the vuvuzela at the soccer which no one in the world likes, except the south africans and Fifa. (except that also probably only south africans understand what the words mean so then probably its ok and its not something to worry about). its nice every now and again to see or hear some south africans for a little while.

ok here is like the running factory, so it can make more sense. see?

this years running calender

here is the running calender except i havent coloured in this weekends 2 runs yet, because it was last week I was updating the colouring in of the calender as a way of trying not give up.
