About frozen waterfalls and the temperature

the way i thought of a black and white drawing, is because say if you run through Victoria park at night, when there is snow everywhere, and not really any people, then it feels as if everything is like a black and white film because its all like dead still and the snow shines on everything but then the sky is black, so in the end, everything is very bright and black and white, like a shiney photograph from when people used to hold a photograph in their hands.

A Real Pilgrims Hat

The Pilgrims Hat and the Sweeper

The Real Pilgrims Hat

The Replica Pilgrims Hat

most probably someone's dad

This is the 'Credencial del Peregrino' which you use to collect stamps at the check points and you can see, sort of, on the picture, the Pilgrim's Hat, the Pilgrim's Staff, the Pilgrim's sword etc etc.

Here is 'Die Antwoord'

here are some videos of Die Antwoord, the first one sort of explains them, and its quite old, the middle one is a newer one of them going shopping overseas. Thats a good example of what South Africans look like when they first go overseas. the last one is one of the oldest ones of them and its been edited a lot since it first went on the internet. For example, Most of the views of them smoking dagga have been taken out, which is probably good so that people don't get ideas. you can ither take them literally or with irony. I'm not sure how overseas people actually understand what they are about or what they are saying, and also they're very sort of post-Apartheid, New South Africa really, South Africa is 16 years old at the moment.

some pictures from the MidSummer Munroe which is on the calender still uncoloured in

this is the start everyone has to run up a long hill but Dr Rob who is the race organisor runs too,in his boater hat,and union jack shorts, so that makes it less scary that he is running too (and talking). But before the start, everyone has to sing 'God Save the Queen' because I think Dr Rob likes to have English experiences, and you get instructions to say well done and thanks to the marshals along the way and everyone does that, so it feels a bit like being inside a nice comforting running factory/

this is the musician who plays Scottish music along the way, which is quite nice and he had to walk all the way up the hill with his pipes. if it was more then 28 degrees a the start at 4pm, the race would have been delayed until it cooled down (like when i was in bording school, if it reached above 40 degrees then we had to go and lie down in the hostel)

this is the course elevation you can see that you run there and back, which is sort of how the running factory idea came about. its also like WillyWonkers chocolate factor and the umpahlumpah's. (or you can go to Gold Reef City near Joburg and Soweto and go down a gold mine to see how the miners worked and how many of them died (but its only a simulation, they would never dream of sending the public down a real mine)

and finally, this is where the race was, Box Hill, where apparently the Box Tree grows, which I might find a picture of and draw, i like the idea of a tree resembling a box, maybe thats how they invented coffins. also there is the sign to warn people about dangerous runners on the horizon. Mostly we didnt run in the road we ran on trails and up and down steps and over styles.
i ran in 2 hours 28 and I heard Dr Rob say that to run under 2 and a half hours is very respectable, so maybe that will help me to be respectable in life.

there were also a lot of south africans running in this race and they have very specific slang and expressions, which i spose might be like a word version of the impact of the vuvuzela at the soccer which no one in the world likes, except the south africans and Fifa. (except that also probably only south africans understand what the words mean so then probably its ok and its not something to worry about). its nice every now and again to see or hear some south africans for a little while.

ok here is like the running factory, so it can make more sense. see?

this years running calender

here is the running calender except i havent coloured in this weekends 2 runs yet, because it was last week I was updating the colouring in of the calender as a way of trying not give up.

running round and round the park

here is the garmin map of the park.
running round the park at the same time each day, reminds me of one of those science experiments where you put string along about a meter square of outside land and then you like watch the eco system and see exactly what changes and which insects or worms eat each other or steal or devour the greenery or which ones hide and which ones die and how they die.
